The ASOCIACIÓN CULTURAL HISPANOAMERICANA (ACHA) proudly invites you to participate in our 10th annual Señorita Latina
Scholarship Contest. This is a local pageant open to full-time residents, students, or employees in the Augusta area and neighboring counties.
MISS LATINA Pageant (ACHA) 2007
The 2007 Srta. Latina Pageant will be held on Saturday October 13, 2007 at the Augusta Common. Mandatory dress rehearsal is at the stage at 6:30pm on Friday October 12, 2007.
REQUIREMENTS
· Must be a resident of the CSRA, which consists of the following counties: 15 in Georgia (Burke, Jefferson, Screven, Columbia, Jenkins, Taliaferro, Emanuel, Lincoln, Warren, Glasscock, McDuffie, Washington, Hancock, Richmond, and Wilkes). 6 South Carolina (Aiken, Barnwell, Edgefield, Lexington, McCormick, and Saluda).
· Contestant must between ages 17 through 21 on the date of the pageant.
· Candidates must have been born female, have a good personality, and a good reputation.
· Contestant is not now nor has ever been married.
· Contestant is not now pregnant and has never been pregnant and is not the adoptive parent of any child.
· Contestant is drug free, and has a clear Juvenile, Civil Court, or Criminal Law Enforcement record.
· Must currently be a student, OR be able to show proof of admission or acceptance to a college or vocational / technical school. Participant should be actively involved in school, and community affairs or events. Must have current copy of grades or transcripts.
· Must be of Hispanic or Spanish decent and (preferably) bilingual.
· The contestant must be responsible for any personal expenses incurred during her participation.
· Contestant must perform a talent in a costume that represents her country or attire suitable for performing her talent.
· Contestant must be able to meet the time commitment and job responsibilities as set forth by the Miss. Latina Board (ACHA).
DEADLINE: If you are interested in competing in the 2007 Miss. Latina Pageant the deadline for competition is Sunday September 30, 2007. All items must be RECEIVED by September 30, 2007, so please allow sufficient time for delivery. Please include your e-mail address on your forms.
JUDGING: Judging will be based on points for each of four categories: Interview, Ethnic costume, Talent, and Evening attire. The grading system will be established by the Pageant Sub-committee.
CATAGORIES:
- INTERVIEW: The contestant will be interviewed before and during the pageant. The judges will be looking for honesty, personal projection, and personality.
- ETHNIC COSTUME: Presence and Traditional costume
- TALENT: (3 MINUTE MAXIMUM) Singing, dancing, acting, reciting (prose or poetry), playing instruments. NO acts that may inflict bodily harm to anyone.
- EVENING GOWN: Poise, intellect, and speech. (Question & Answer MAY be given in both Spanish & English).
SCHOLARSHIPS AND AWARDS
Winner
She will be crowned “Señorita Latina” for a year, and receive $600.00. She will also receive a trophy, roses, a sash, and other awards from sponsors.
First Runner-Up
She will receive $300.00, a trophy and flowers.
Second Runner-Up
She will receive $200.00, and a trophy.
ENTRY FEE: $10.00 (to be paid by contestant, parents, or sponsors). Make checks payable to ACHA. Entry fee is non-refundable.

La ASOCIACIÓN CULTURAL HISPANOAMERICANA (ACHA) orgullosamente le invita a tomar parte en nuestro Concurso anual “La Señorita Latina.” Un concurso local abierto para residentes que estudien o trabajen en el área del Central Savannah River Area.
Concurso de “La Señorita Latina” (ACHA) 2007
El concurso de la Señorita Latina se llevara a cabo el día (sábado) 13 de octubre de 2007 en el Augusta Common. Es obligatorio asistir al ensayo a las 6:30pm el viernes, 12 de octubre de 2007.
Los REQUISITOS
• Se requiere ser residente de los condados del Central Savannah River Area; estos condados incluyen Burke, Jefferson, Screven, Columbia, Jenkins, Taliaferro, Emanuel, Lincoln, Warren, Glasscock, McDuffie, Washington, Hancock, Richmond, y Wilkes en el estado de Georgia. Y Aiken, Barnwell, Edgefield, Lexington, McCormick, y Saluda en el estado de Carolina del Sur.
• Se requiere que la edad de la participante en la fecha del concurso sea entre 17 y 21años.
• Se requiere que la participante halla nacido bajo el sexo femenino, que posea una personalidad placentera, y una buena reputación.
• Se requiere que la participante sea soltera y que nunca se halla casado.
• Se requiere que la participante no este embarazada, que nunca halla estado embarazada, y que no tenga hijos adoptivos.
• Se requiere que la participante posea un record policivo o judicial libre de arrestos o multas, que no use drogas ilegales de ningún tipo.
• Se requiere que la participante sea estudiante, o que puede proveer prueba de admisión a una Universidad, escuela Vocacional, o Técnica. Se requiere copia de las transcripciones escolares.
• Se requiere conocimiento de la cultura Hispanoamericana (especialmente la propia). Ser bilingüe es preferible pero no obligatorio.
• La participante será responsable por gastos incurridos durante su participación.
• La participante demostrará un talento de su predilección y utilizara el atuendo típico de su país o un atuendo adecuado.
• La participante se compromete a cumplir con las obligaciones asignadas por la Junta Directiva de ACHA a la ganadora del concurso y dedicar el tiempo requerido para completar las mismas (presentaciones públicas, festivales, etc.).
La FECHA LIMITE: Si le interesa competir en el concurso del 2007 la fecha limite para la competencia es domingo el 30 de septiembre de 2007. Todos los documentos DEBEN SER RECIBIDOS para el día 30 de septiembre de 2007, así que por favor permitan tiempo suficiente para la entrega. Por favor, incluya su dirección de correo electrónico en sus documentos.
CERTAMEN: El certamen será basado en puntos adquiridos en cuatro categorías: Entrevista, atuendo típico, talento, y el vestido formal. El sistema de los puntos será establecido por el comité de jueces.
CATEGORÍAS:
1. ENTREVISTA: La participante será entrevistada antes y durante el concurso. Los jueces juzgaran la participante basándose en honestidad y personalidad.
2. ATUENDO TIPICO: Originalidad en el atuendo y aplomo de la participante.
3. TALENTO: (limitado a 3 minutos máximo) Cantar, bailar, actuación, recitar (la prosa o rima), tocar un instrumento musical; ningún acto que resulte en daño físico a la participante o el publico será permitido.
4. VESTIDO FORMAL: Confianza en si misma, intelecto, y uso del lenguaje. (Las preguntas & las respuestas serán en español o ingles, dependiendo de la preferencia de la participante).
BECAS Y PREMIOS
La Ganadora
La ganadora sea paseadora de la corona "Señorita Latina" por un año, y recibirá $600,00. Además, recibirá un trofeo, rosas, y premios de los patrocinadores.
Segundo Puesto
Recibirá $300,00, un trofeo y flores.
Tercero Puesto
Recibirá $200,00, y un trofeo.
La CUOTA DE INSCRIPCION: $10,00 (pagada por la participante, por los padres, o por los patrocinadores). Escribe el cheque a favor de ACHA. La cuota de inscripción no es reembolsable.
